Covering text is not always redaction

A rectangle over text may hide content visually while the underlying text remains selectable, searchable, or extractable. True redaction removes the underlying content.

What to check

Check whether text can still be selected, copied, searched, or recovered from annotations, layers, form fields, attachments, or hidden objects. Redaction checkers reduce risk but cannot provide a legal guarantee.

Safe workflow

Keep an original copy, use a proper redaction tool, flatten or export carefully when appropriate, then scan and verify the final PDF before sending.
